The Week On Kickstarter. (We animated one of Order of the Stick’s cool funding graphs as a way of baiting you to check it out.)
Awesome :)
Rich Burlew’s 26th project update, and the first one since Order of the Stick crossed the million dollar threshold.
Between just yesterday and today, Burlew spent 14 hours answering emails and messages from thousands of backers. Since kicking off this project, he’s posted an update every day (except weekends) with progress reports, hand-drawn charts, and new rewards. He’s been talking non-stop to backers through updates, comments, and on his own forums. His project holds a record for most comments ever (currently at 13,502 and rising). He’s communicating up a storm, making sure every single person knows what they’re getting and who they’re supporting. He’s doing it right.
If you want to know why Burlew’s been so successful, read through his updates and take note of how much he cares about his community.
Rich Burlew’s D&D-inspired webcomic Order of the Stick has officially become the third project in Kickstarter history to surpass $1 million. Congrats!

Rich Burlew, creator of the popular webcomic Order of the Stick, wanted to raise $50,000 to reprint previously sold out collected editions of his comics. In just a week, he’s raised over $239,000.
One long time fan sums it up nicely here:
I’ve been an Order of the Stick fan for a long, long time and I have almost all the books in print. I donated early to this drive and I’ve been happily watching the number grow.
For all the creators terrified of piracy or upset about digital works…every OotS comic is on-line for free right now. For years, fans have been collecting them into .cbr and .pdf file compilations and distributing them. And yet, OotS is able to smash fundraising numbers. Piracy isn’t the problem.
Digital comics aren’t the problem. Bad comics are the problem.
So there you have it. Make good comics.
