If you’re in NYC on June 6th and thinking about possibly running a Kickstarter project, come to the second Kickstarter Open House! Kickstarter staff and successful project creators will be around to hang out and chat about whatever project ideas you have, big or small. Our first event in February was a blast, so we’d be thrilled to see you in June!
In closing, I want to say thank you again for your support and your patience over the last year. I won’t lie: it has been very hard and I’ve learned a lot along the way. I like to say my strategy has been to push as hard as I can, hit “the wall,” and then take a step back. Sometimes I have to walk away for 15 minutes. Sometimes for half a day (usually sleeping-in after a night of working past midnight). I’ve tried hard to take at least Sunday’s off because I think I work better when I have at least one day a week to relax a little bit. But in general, I figure I’ve put at least two thousand hours into this project. Two thousand tough, rewarding, educational, brutal, wonderful, exciting hours.
I guess I’m trying to say that I take my commitment to you very seriously. I wish I were further along, but I also want to deliver an experience that meets your expectations. I’m trying very hard to do that, and I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your continuing support.
Games on the borderlands.
Hello,
I’m Luke, the Project Specialist for Games here at Kickstarter. I look at ALL the games. And while I love each and every game that comes through my queue, I have a special place in my heart for tabletop RPGs.
The RPG community is well-represented on Kickstarter — there are lots of great projects and a ton of eager backers — but they’re scrunched in among lots of other great gaming projects, so I thought I’d take some time to point out the live tabletop RPG projects, regardless of system. I hope you find this useful!Recently LaunchedA SF/Horror game based on the Mongoose Traveller SRD.Approaching DeadlineA new RPG system! It does everything! A UK convention scene hit.Rolling AlongA companion to the ADD Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore. I’ll post an update in a couple of weeks! You can also follow me on twitter (@burning_luke) for updates about these games and others!- Luke*What Would Gary Gygax Do?
Luke’s first Kickstarter tumblr post! Who wants to see more??
TSA: But you still think Kickstarter is the right tool for Godus?
PM: Yes, if people really want innovation, if they really want indie development, if they really value passion over profit then Kickstarter is a great force. This is why we laid ourself bare and did the campaign.
Penny Arcade’s Kickstarter survey just went out, and I am stuck on this question.
I have a feeling nobody would have predicted that tabletop minis would become a multi-million dollar genre on Kickstarter. But more importantly, I’m guessing there are more than a few brand new players among those 17,000+ backers. The entire genre gets to grow as a result, and that is an amazing thing to see.
